"Candlelight Vigil for Barry (B.J.) Brooks"
We are asking for your support by gathering the Honor the Life of Barry "BJ" Brooks.
Barry Brooks, Jr.,19, was murdered November 18, 2007, at an apartment complex on Timuquana Road in Jacksonville. He had gone there with friends and while waiting on his male friend to return, two young males approached him from behind in a threatening manner.
During the ensuing exchange of words, Barry hit one of the suspects while trying to defend his female friend. The man then shot him and the two ran away. Barry lived long enough to give a description to responding officers. He was a student at FCCJ, working on his GED and worked at a Cathedral Arts project where he taught dance to younger kids. A lifeguard at public pools, he also was employed by Larry’s Subs.
