The LaVan E. Holliday Scholarship Fund is designed to be a window of opportunity for children who have the desire to attend college and need some type of incentive and/or push to further their education as well as assist with any tuitions for private school and/or assist with School Clothes and Supplies for Children, who have experienced Violence, with through the Lost of their Parent, Seuxal Assault, Molestation, Rape, Abandonment, etc.
My father, LaVan E. Holliday, was a very intelligent and well educated man. All during his education, he maintained a GPA of 3.0 or better. He further his education while serving in the United States Army & Marines. And at the time of his death, he was attending the University of Florida.
He believed that everyone should be afforded the opportunity to further their education, whether it was education, vocational, technical, or even seminary. He was committed to reading & learning about any & everything.
My father, LaVan E. Holliday, wanted to make a difference with children, by mentoring and challenging you to strive to be the best you can. He didn’t grow into an adult with a silver spoon, he worked for EVERYTHING he had. He set goals and timelines to follow in life, so therefore regardless of what obstacles may have risen, he still had a plan in place, and would never be caught of guard.
It is our desire that this scholarship fund will reach as many children as possible. And show them that in the midst of any & every opposition that they are faced with, that firstly there is always someone who cares for them and has their back.
Secondly, to not give up, dust themselves off and let the oppositions that come catapult them into a better them, by furthering their education, to become that lawyer, doctor, journalist, congressman, entrepreneur, author, actor/actress, and even the next Nobel Peace Prize Recipient , the SKY IS THE LIMIT!
So in honor of the Life of LaVan E. Holliday, (My Father) I share with you his legacy of Furthering Education, Better Quality of Life, Discovering Purpose, and Reaching for the Stars with the LaVan E. Holliday Scholarship Fund.
